I asked mr12volt support if there was a way to reboot it. I'd have to turn the car off and wait for it to go to sleep and power down to get it back working again. Anyone else seeing that?Īnyway, it was super frustrating at first because I didn't know how to reboot the P2000. Maybe it's happened in some other condition but I don't recall for sure. It seems to happen sometimes when reading back text messages in Android Auto. So, after having mine installed for about a week now I've unfortunately had some trouble with it locking up on occasion. I will try the grinding down as per your suggestion and give it ago with a little grease. So I know that the P2000 works it just that tiny difference in the plug. The supplied Mic also worked, I had installed it into the empty over head slot as suggested in this post. WIth my phone connected I was able to play music and hear the higher quality audio even without the ability to scroll through the DSP menu. I plugged in the my iPhone to the USB and it immediately opened up CarPlay. I finally with the the factory plug was able to select the CD1 option then switched cables and it opened the 12V menu. I inspected the pins in all connectors, they are all there and are still straight. I also tried taking out the idrive controller so I could have better leverage, still same result. I think part of the issue is that the internal metal terminals are a millimeter or two shorter/lower than the vehicle's OEM. Still can't hear/feel a snap? Running out of options? Before refund/return, I would grind/cut the end of the plastic plug that connects to the iDrive knob a few millimeters and try again. Test the iDrive for the sweet sound of victory. Now, limit the background noise and SNAP it like you mean it! Also check the original iDrive cable that now connects to the Mr12Volt iDrive splitter cable and make sure is seated all the way too. Get a little lubricant (dielectric grease, wd40, ky, etc.) and add a dab to the connectors (all of them) to assist when pushing. If everything looks good, let's give it another try. If possible, do a continuity test to verify there are no breaks. Check all connectors for damaged/bent or missing pins. With patience, go ahead and inspect the BMW_CIC Idrive 4PIN cable. Not too long ago, there was another user with the same problem, and unfortunately he was not able to install the P2000 in his vehicle.
